Changing the clutch without any guesswork

A centring pin prevents the clutch disc from being fitted crookedly when changing the clutch on a tractor: the engine and gearbox engage on the first attempt, without having to disengage them a second time and without damaging any parts.

Why won’t the tractor start up after the clutch has been replaced?

The new coupling is fitted, the bolts are tightened, and the two halves of the tractor are ready. But the gearbox input shaft simply won’t fit into the coupling hub. You push, turn and realign the heavy halves, and often there’s only one option left: to dismantle the tractor a second time.

1

It works the first time round

The clutch disc is held precisely centred when the pressure plate is bolted on. The gearbox input shaft engages with the hub immediately, without the tractor having to be disconnected a second time.

2

Preserves new parts

No force is required during assembly. The hub of the new coupling disc, the splines on the input shaft and the pilot bearing remain undamaged.

3

Working more safely

Less pushing and aligning of the heavy tractor halves means fewer situations in which hands and fingers could get trapped.

A few millimetres that cost hours

Anyone who has ever changed a tractor clutch will recognise that moment: the new disc is in place, everything is bolted down, and yet the gearbox simply won’t engage. You push, turn and jiggle it. In the worst-case scenario, you have to take it all apart again.

The reason usually lies in a matter of a few millimetres
If the clutch disc is not positioned exactly in the centre, the gearbox input shaft will not engage with the hub. It is sometimes possible to force it in anyway, but this causes damage to the hub, the gearing and the pilot bearing. And the new clutch will be damaged before it has even covered its first metre.

Our solution, developed in our own workshop
We developed the clutch centring mandrel ourselves here at Trub, based on our day-to-day experience with tractor clutches. It holds the clutch disc precisely in position during assembly. This means the tractor can be reassembled first time round.

Your benefits:
  • No need to cut it a second time, no wasted hours
  • The hub, input shaft and pilot bearing remain undamaged
  • Less manoeuvring with heavy tractor halves, resulting in safer working conditions
  • Clutch replacement can be carried out cleanly even in your own workshop
