    Product information:

Automatic temperature control (ATC) fan does not work.
The ATC blower motor may not show an error code. Checking the ATC blower motor is not described in the workshop manual.

    Blower operation:
The ATC control unit controls the blower motor through the blower speed control module. Battery voltage is always present at the blower motor with key on. The blower control module modifies the ground circuit to control the blower speed. The speed setting is based on the input voltage on pin 3 from the ATC J19 connector of pin 5 of the ACT control module.

The different voltages on pin 3 from the fan speed control module are as follows:
    1. ATC system in off, manual or automatic mode.
    A. Lowest fan speed control setting: 5 to 6.5 volts.
    B. Highest fan speed control setting: 2 to 3 volts.
    2. ATC system in off or manual mode.
    ? A. Fan speed control off: 11 to 12-volts.
? NOTE: In automatic mode, the fan cannot be switched off. The voltages listed above are supplied from pin 5 of the ATC control unit.
The following procedure should be used to check the blower motor and control circuits.
NOTE: Check all grounds in the ATC box and at the right corner of the cabin above and below the cabin floor before testing.

    Blower test:
    1. Disconnect the two-pin blower motor connector. Connect pin one of the blower motor connector to the 12-volts and pin two to earth ground. If the blower does not run, replace the blower. If the blower runs, continue.

Checking the blower speed control: (control unit part number 87306706) 1.
Reconnect the two-pin fan motor connector. 2.
Disconnect the ATC J8 connector from the ATC control unit. 3.
Turn on the key switch. 4.
    4. earth pin three from the fan speed control connector J19, this is connected to pin five from the ATC module connector J8. If the fan does not run, replace the fan speed control module. If the fan runs, then continue.

ATC fan speed output check 1.
    1. before replacing from ATC control module check for:
    2. 12-volt power on pins 4, 6, 8, 17 of J8.
    3. ground on pin 18.
If steps 2 and 3 above are correct, replace ATC control unit.
NOTE: Always check the grounds first, two ATC grounds inside the ATC box. The grounds are references C1 and C2 on the wiring diagram.
