C1/C2 CLUTCH UPGRADE TO INCREASE SERVICE LIFE.
DESCRIPTION:
This service bulletin is to correct overheating and possible failure of the clutch plate friction surfaces.
Repeated light depressions of the clutch pedal when manoeuvring or changing direction frequently can cause heat build-up in clutches C1 and C2.
The design of the C1 and C2 clutches has been changed. The number of clutch discs has been increased from 4 to 5 discs and the service life of the friction material has been improved. The new design also increases the flow of lubricating oil when the clutch is engaged.
An upgrade kit is available for tractors in the field to upgrade to the new design. This will increase the life of the C1/C2 clutch and durability when used in harsh conditions.

The new 5-disc clutches and improved friction material were introduced into production from serial number ZABD03991.

SERVICE: Section in the maintenance manual: C20.D
For machines before the serial number concerned:
To repair clutch C1/C2 on a tractor with 16x16 or 17x16 semi-Powershift transmission, order and fit the parts kit described below.
Proceed according to Maintenance Manual, Section 1 (Disconnect the engine from the transmission) and follow the instructions in Section 21, Chapter 1 to remove and disassemble the front transmission section, install the C1/C2 clutch update kit and reassemble the transmission.

NOTE: 5 friction discs and 5 steel separator discs are required for each clutch.
After the repair, the gearbox oil must be heated to approx. 60 °C and a calibration of the clutches of the automatic gearbox must be carried out.

The previous oil distributor (part number 47131218 and 47130994) for the 4-plate clutch is no longer available from spare parts logistics.
The current oil distributor (part number 47136814) for the 5-disc clutch is not compatible with a 4-disc clutch because the lubricating oil flow has been changed.
If an oil distributor (part number 47131218 or 47130994) is required on a tractor with 4-disc clutches, the update kit (4 discs to 5 discs) described below MUST be fitted.
