To access the engine crankcase breather/filter part number 55801856862, located at the rear of the engine, remove the cover part number 504124620
During normal maintenance of the crankcase breather filter, check the crankcase breather filter bolts for proper torque before removal. The crankcase breather filter bolts may be loose due to oil entering the threads. Loose crankcase breather filter bolts may fall into the engine crankcase, causing internal damage to the engine.
CNH has introduced the following improvements from serial number 37009:
LOCTITE 243 applied to the filter mounting bolts.
Increased tightening torque of the bolts from 8 Nm to 10 Nm
When servicing the crankcase breather filter, carry out the following steps. 1.
1. check the O-ring for damage on the sealing surface of the camshaft sprocket that seals the outlet of the new filter. Replace the O-ring, 70935011 if damage is evident. 2.
Install the new crankcase filter.
A. Search the parts catalogue specifically for the model you are working on as there are two filters in different sizes. 5801659560 and 5801542914.
3. remove the oil residue from the following parts with a non-oil based detergent.
The threads of the screws for the crankcase breather filter.
The threads of the camshaft sprocket
Allow the threads of the crankcase breather filter bolts and the tapped hole in the camshaft sprocket to air dry.
NOTE: Make sure that no residue of the non-oil based detergent remains. 5.
Apply LOCTITE 243 to the crankcase breather filter bolts. 6.
Fit the crankcase breather filter bolts. 7.
Tighten the crankcase breather filter bolts to a torque of 10 Nm.
