Check pulley and compressor alignment with ruler
Replace the 3/8 x 5 inch bolt (part number 280177) with a 1/2 x 5 inch bolt (part number 87997). The 1/2 inch screw will prevent the compressor from moving out of alignment. See service bulletin for detailed information.
If the fan belt continues to squeak, replace the belt.
Accumulation of paint causes the intermediate pulleys to run out of alignment, creating uneven belt tension, slippage and noise (squealing).
Excess paint under the front A/C compressor mounting bolts can cause fan belt noise.
Paint has been identified as a possible cause of misalignment of the mounting hardware where the fan belt runs. Remove all traces of paint where two surfaces touch each other on the points listed below.
Air conditioning compressor.
Excess paint under front fixing screws can misalign the compressor. When replacing the compressor, you must take into account that the screw fixing the engine lifting bracket is on the left side of the engine. The head of this screw may touch the compressor and cause misalignment. Make sure that there is a certain distance between the head of the screw and the compressor.
Fan belt tensioner.
Excess paint under fastener may cause misalignment of belt tensioner.
Water pump crankshaft & pulley.
Excess paint in V-grooves can cause belt slippage.
