Air-conditioning dryer

The dryer stores the liquid coolant to ensure a steady flow to the thermostatic relief valve under widely varying operating conditions.
The drier contains a desiccant to absorb any moisture from the system.
Any moisture in the air conditioning system is extremely damaging.
Moisture that is not absorbed by the desiccant circulates with the coolant and droplets can collect in the thermostatic relief valve and freeze out.
This process blocks the coolant flow and interrupts the cooling effect.
Water vapour also reacts with the coolant to form a corrosive acid.
The desiccant can only absorb a limited amount of moisture before it reaches its saturation point.
Therefore, the dryer should be replaced after each replacement of system components.
