Product information:
New brake discs (5184313) made of Kevlar have been fitted to prevent excessive brake noise.
When replacing the thrust collar and shims, only use the latest ones with a finer surface finish:
5191349 Washer for Kevlar brake discs
5191350 Thrust washer for Kevlar brake discs 90 L60 L65 TL70 TL70A
5191352 Thrust ring for Kevlar brake discs 94 L75-85 TL80-100 TL80A-TL100A T5000
Old already installed pressure ring and intermediate discs may be used in combination with new Kevlar brake discs (5184313), these have the necessary fine surface due to operation.
Brake disc total thickness new 9.55mm
Brake disc old = 84190977 Sinter
Brake disc new = 5184313 Kevlar
Milled groove at the bottom to drain off brake wear !
There are no specific instructions in the workshop manual for installing the brake pistons and the inner and outer brake piston rubber seals - these can easily be damaged if incorrectly fitted.
Open the bleed screw one turn to allow air trapped behind the piston during installation to escape.
Next, install the brake piston into the housing without the inner and outer O-ring seals and return springs. Rotate the piston until the dowel pins are aligned. The piston will seat completely at the bottom of the bore.
Use a paint stick and place a reference mark on the piston and the brake housing in two places.
Remove the piston from the rear housing and lightly sand the bevel on the rear housing where the inner and outer O-ring seals of the piston enter the rear housing. This will remove any sharp edges on these surfaces.
Install the inner and outer O-ring seals onto the brake pistons. Lubricate the seals with a light coating of white grease and then gear oil.
Place the return springs back into the housing, align the brake piston with the reference marks and use a rubber mallet to lightly tap the piston into the rear housing until it stops, taking care not to jam the piston.
