The new engines were introduced into production from serial number 776979.

The engine was modified in the following points:
New cylinder heads with improved air flow through the intake
and exhaust ports.
New cylinder head gasket.
New pistons with improved swirl chambers.
New piston rings.
Improved components in the injection pumps.
Injection nozzles with five openings with reduced diameter
of the nozzle openings as well as a standardised 260 to 272 bar
standardised injection nozzle operating pressure.
Improved feed lines for the injection nozzles, with the line walls
The pipe walls have been reinforced from 1.5 to 1.75 mm.
