Product information:
The transmission and PTO have recently stopped running without an error code being displayed in the analogue digital instrument cluster (ADIC).
The splined connection of the drive shaft and Powershuttle clutch housing has worn prematurely and therefore has no drive.
This symptom mainly occurs in an operating range of 700 - 1500 operating hours, but can also occur after very few operating hours (less than 100 hours).
Premature wear of the splines is caused by:
Poorly machined dowel pin holes on the drive shaft bearing cover, resulting in misalignment of the drive shaft to the Powershuttle clutch housing profile.
Missing dowel pins on the front transmission spacer.
If the above symptom is identified and worn drive shaft and clutch housing splines are found, the following procedure should be followed:
Replace all parts affected by wear such as drive shaft (part number 84470224) and clutch housing (part number 5181843).
Check for the two dowel pins (part number 4988170) on the front gearbox spacer (part number 84488918), order and fit them if required.
Replace the drive shaft bearing cover and order a new cover (part number 5181855) from the parts shop. Check that both locating pins are fitted.
Note: The new bearing cover from the parts store is supplied without the ball (part number 20063460) fitted. Either the ball from the old cover must be re-used or a new ball must be ordered from Spare Parts Logistics.
The correctly machined drive shaft bearing cover was introduced in production from the following serial number:
